MD Native,Brianna Harris is owner and designer of Claszie Creationz handmade jewelry thathas been flourishing in online business since last July. I was delighted andthrilled to have the occasion of interviewing her just this past week. Whenasked would she be willing to do an interview, she jumped to the opportunity saying,“I would love to! We need more positive images for African Americans, soanything to promote a positive image for us I am all for it!”

Harris decided to start Claszie Creationz when she realizedthat she wanted to do something that would help her grow mentally. She also adds “ I wanted something thatwould enable me to work comfortably at my own pace without having to answer toanyone.” After learning the basics of making jewelry in July of 2011, the restwas history. The name “Claszie” originated from her nickname, which is “Claszie”,the name “Creationz” she chose because well, it’s pretty much isself-explanatory. The name supported Harris’s overall objective of expressingexactly what the jewelry is for, her very own creations, thus birthed the idea“Claszie Creationz”. For her, being in business is just an unexplainable feeling,just making the impossible possible. As a fashion designer keeping heroriginality and staying true to herself are what’s most important to her. Continuouslykeeping up with current fashion trends is a must, however she’s sure to add hervery own twist when designing her “creationz”, which embodies a touch of classall while still being hip and fashionable.

“Everything looks better in PINK!” says Harris, pink is herone and only favorite color to use. As she laughs she says, “I have to forcemyself to work with other colors… I can’t have a jewelry line with nothing butpink jewelry.” Well in this case we’ll never know, in the near future we’ll geta chance to see a jewelry line dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness….

An anonymous quote reads, “What did you do today to changetomorrow?” This is the quote that Harris lives by. It’s a constant reminder todo something everyday to make her tomorrow better.
For some it isn’t as straightforward as it is for Harris,who grasps the beauty in everything for inspiration. “A swirl on someone’sshirt, or a painting…” she can look at anything and quickly get inspired.Everything that inspires her comes out within her fashion; this gives her thesatisfaction of speaking without words just through handmade crafts. Majorityof her designs are drawn out prior to being created which gives her theopportunity to show her true colors; her personality. One of her favoritefashion websites is Fashion Bomb Daily, which has been dedicated to urbanfashion and providing a variety of styles since August of 2006. Among herfavorite magazines are Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan and also one of my all timefavorites, Essence. “Stick to your dreams, pray constantly, have faith andpatience!!!” She urges individuals who are looking to open up a business justlike her.
